Rheo H. Blair, nutritional scientist and teacher of "super nutrition" became one of the nation's leading nutritionists as well as a pioneer in the physical culture scene. Over a period of nearly forty years he involved himself in research aimed directly as slowing down the aging process.
Notable results have been quoted in the press when Mr. Blair's nutritional supervision has been applied to popular motion picture stars and other celebrities, as, for instance Regis Philbin, Charlton Heston, Lawrence Welk, Peter Lupis, of "Mission Impossible", Liberace, Bobby Riggs, Clint Walker, astronaut Col. Jim Erwin, Mike Henry "Tarzan", Andy Williams, Burt Reynolds, Bob Cummings, Stafni Powers, John Saxon, Powers Booth and Martin Sheen.
Blair Applied his program of "super nutrition" to children and young people with learning difficulties and behavioral problems with remarkable success.
James J. Julain, M.D. commented, "Had I not witnessed first-hand the dramatic improvements taking place in the Blair students, ranging from age two to ninety-two, I would not have believed the impressive results achieved with this man's system of body care."
Examples of his work include those many students of his who have won more then 200 awards in physical fitness. Among these who have used his nutritional advice are Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Colombu, Dave, Draper, Larry Scott and Frank Zane. This last is the only person to ever win the four major titles, "Mr. America", then "Mr. World" then "Mr. Universe" and "Mr. Olympia", the last of which he won three times. A student of Blair for years, Zane possessed one of the most admired physiques of all time.
During his lectures Blair showed before the eyes of beholders the actual unretouched photographs that dramatize these outstanding results, often with persons having serious physical and mental complaints and often in a few weeks, simply by following an individually tailored program that emphasizes truly scientific nutrition accurately applied.
The Blair program has been characterized by those who study contemporary orthomolecular biochemistry as possibly the most advanced, result-producing body remodeling and physical fitness program in existence.
Blair became well known to the general public through his appearances over a period of several years as a regular guest nutrition star on the "A.M. Los Angeles" television show with Regis Philbin and Cindy Garvey and again with the same co-hosts on New York City's A.M. New York, "The Morning Show".
Mr. Blair never considered himself so much an authority as a student, a research scientist, if you please. Logically enough his original interest in the field stemmed from his own poor state of health. Having tackled his own problem and having succeeded in building himself into a robust example of full health, he tirelessly shared his experiences for a full lifetime with others who also wished to retain youthfulness and enjoy a more satisfying way of life.
While it is true that Blair's students have included some of the greatest physiques and athletes the world has known and movie celebrities famous for their vitality and youthfulness, the fact is that most of his students were ordinary people who were interested now so much in winning titles and fame as in living 24 hours a day, every day, in a state of good health.
The great teacher of nutrition, Dr. Carlton Fredericks, was so impressed with Mr. Blair's work that he invited him to New York City where he featured Blair on two of his regular 30-minute broadcasts on Station WOR. Rheo was also a special guest of Dr. Fredericks when he lectured to doctor members of the International Collage of Applied Nutrition, expounding on his theory and approach to health through the orthomolecular use of nutrition.
Blair was convinced that when nutrition is used properly and applied to an individuals biochemical needs, it is actually possible to take a picture of the person's body and face, then compare it to similar pictures taken after 35 to 90 days showing dramatic results. Such "before" and "after" pictures reflect definite changes in body shape, contours and muscle tone and often revel dramatic changes in facial appearance, expression of eyes and mouth, and the like.
Blair had particular success in his work with children and young people who were considered beyond help because of their serious emotional, psychological and behavioral problems (and in some cases drug addiction). Most of these would have been permanently handicapped or even institutionalized but instead developed not only attractive, healthy bodies but new attitudes and a new, positive outlook on life.
Mr. Blair looked on the body as a biochemically dependent machine, so that when it's biochemical need are met, most people would no longer need to continue suffering mediocre or poor levels of health. He was confident that people can enjoy a state of "super fitness" and "super health" through his theory of "super nutrition".
