Rheo Blair is back in the public spotlight, or maybe he never really left, in the 2017 movie Battle of the Sexes which is based on the famous 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King played by Emma Stone and Bobby Riggs played by Steve Carell.
Back then all of Hollywood's elite including actors, athletes, bodybuilders, etc. went to Rheo the top "Nutrition Guru" for diet advice and supplements.
It is well known that Bobby Riggs was a big proponent of Blair's supplements and took hundreds of pills a day along with protein drinks to help his stamina. So, it is only fitting that Rheo was portrayed in the film.
In the film, Bobby Riggs is sitting poolside and is talking to his son, he says "I want to introduce you to Rheo Blair", who is played by Fred Armisen, they talk about Blair's super nutrition program and supplements. Rheo is seen more later in the movie acting as Bobby's coach during the match, I'm not sure that part really happened.
I think Armisen did a good job playing Rheo, even if he only had a few lines. But he sure looked the part in his white suit, red shirt and striped tie. There was also great attention to detail and they even precisely reproduced Blair's labels and bottles of his different supplements.
If you missed seeing Battle of the Sexes while it was in theaters, you should rent or buy it - it's a great movie!
