Dave Draper was actually a shy bodybuilder from Union City, He lived in New Jersey and was employed by Weider since he was 16 years old working in the warehouse, packing protein powder and sending off Weider weight training equipment. When Joe Weider saw Dave Draper train he knew a good thing when they saw it and invited Dave to come out to California and train with the best.
Dave started training his already well-muscled body at Gold's Gym where he landed up training with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane and Franco Columbu, always trying to invent new training styles at the original Joe Gold's gym in Venice Beach.
Dave Draper stands over 6 feet tall and his shockingly blond hair got him the nickname "The Blond Bomber" which stayed with him his whole life. The Blond Bomber set the standard in bodybuilding winning Mr. World, Mr. America and Mr. Universe titles, changing bodybuilding forever.
Dave explains he was influenced by men who were at the top of their game in the 60's. Men like Rheo Blair who explained to Dave the importance of taking his milk and egg protein and amino acid supplements.
In those days' bodybuilders believed in serious volume which Dave split into training 3 days and then a day's break.
